1. 無視する = to ignore = to pay no attention to
Ignore him. Pay no attention (to him).
He neglected his children/work/studies/pet/family.
2. 避ける avoid = dodge = duck
He shirked his duties/responsibilities.
avoid something you are supposed to do = shirk
3. 適切な = appropriate
Please wear appropriate shoes.
Please wear suitable shoes.
Opposite word: inappropriate
appropriate = proper
inappropriate = improper
Wearing a bikini to the office would be very inappropriate.
4. Something you can see is visible.
Something you cannot see invisible.
Something you can touch is tangible.
Something you cannot touch is intangible.
Something you can hear is audible.
Something you cannot hear is inaudible.
Something you can eat is edible.
Something you cannot eat inedible.
Something you can drink is potable.
Something you cannot drink is potable.
potable = drinkable
drinkable <—> undrinkable
