What’s the difference? a) 何が違う？, b) It’s the same thing. There is no difference. 一緒じゃない？

I can’t tell the difference. = I cannot see or understand that a difference exist.

The honorific “o”.

It makes no difference. = It’s the same. (nuance: I don’t care.)

It’s the same difference.  = It’s the same. 

compromise: He wanted me to do the job for $1,000. 

I wanted $1,500. So we decided to split the difference.
